Netflix's Daredevil director talk Charlie Cox.
Summary Director Marc Jobst shares a memory from working on Netflix's Daredevil that explains how Charlie Cox is able to embody the physicality of Daredevil so well. Daredevil first premiered on Netflix in 2015 and ran for three seasons. The series kicked off Netflix's Defender franchise. Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have reprised their roles in the MCU in She-Hulk and Hawkeye, respectively, but will return in full force with the highly anticipated Daredevil: Born Again.
Screen Rant recently spoke with Jobst about his work on the upcoming Netflix One Piece adaptation. He also discussed his time working on Daredevil, specifically with Cox. Jobst broke down one of the early season 3 scenes and shared how Cox was able to seemingly effortlessly do the physically taxing recovery workouts in the third season's premiere. Check out Jobst's full quote below:
Marc Jobst: Charlie is an unbelievable physical athlete. We were shooting the scene, I think it was the first episode of season three, and he'd been in some terrible situation, the building had collapsed on him, and he'd escaped through it, and he was recovering in the chapel of this church.
How Cox's Daredevil Fits Into The MCU's Future Marvel has already shown how Daredevil and Kingpin can fit into the larger tapestry of the MCU. Hawkeye sets up Kingpin as a major player in the New York criminal underworld, with Clint Barton himself weary of taking him on. She-Hulk reintroduced Matt Murdock as a skilled attorney and vigilante. Marvel has laid the groundwork for New York to be the street-level crime corner of the MCU, which is the perfect fit for both Kingpin and Daredevil.
Daredevil could also be the beginning of bringing back some of the more popular characters from the Netflix era Defenders, like Jessica Jones. The MCU has proven that Daredevil has an impressive ability to jump into different genres. Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be a bit darker, reminiscent of Netflix's Daredevil, while his appearance in She-Hulk leaned into the comedic aspects of his character.
