Jerry Jones had an interesting take on the relationship between Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. “Dak Prescott sees the best guy as well as anybody in the NFL....
“Dak Prescott sees the best guy as well as anybody in the NFL. He’ll throw it to the best guy to throw it too,” Jones told reporters. “Lamb has the ability to not be the best guy but the guy you ought to throw it too as far as who’s open.”Prescott fit well with former coachhas a similar philosophy.
The issue, of course, is that sometimes you should take what you want. That means throwing it to your best receiver even if he’s covered because you trust him.On their 15-play, 79-yard game-winning drive, Stafford completed four passes for 44 yards and the go-ahead touchdown to Cooper Kupp.Prescott is more likely to follow his progressions and throw the ball where the read takes him. It’s among the reasons he throws few interceptions.
So the question is whether Prescott will give Lamb the ball even when he’s covered. He didn’t do that with Amari Cooper last year.Coordinators will try to take Lamb away, Prescott and Moore can’t let that happen.Jean-Jacques Taylor, a former SportsDay columnist, is the host of JaM Session Podcast which can be heard Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
