Holzhauer, who has won 22-consecutive regular-season games and amassed $1,691,008 as of the May 3, 2019 show. Here's why he's on a two-week hiatus.
James Holzhauer has become as much a part of Jeopardy! over the last month as longtime host Alex Trebek. However, the Las Vegas native and professional sports gambler will be glaringly missing from the show until May 20, according to the show’s website.
Holzhauer is second to only Ken Jennings in all-time wins and career winnings from regular-season games . Jennings accomplished his feat from late 2003 into the 2004 calendar year. Usually by midway through the second round, Holzhauer has raced out to a comfortable lead and almost guaranteed to win that day’s game because, wagering just the right amount, he could miss the Final Jeopardy! and still finish on top.
Now Holzhauer has a two-week break to enjoy his winnings, take a break from trivia or just polish up on more topics.
