Michael Scott did the unthinkable in season 5 of The Office when he quit Dunder Mifflin on a whim, but what was the catalyst that forced him to leave?
Given he spent 15 years working at Dunder Mifflin, it came as a great shock when Michael Scott quit the company in season 5 of The Office. He loved his job so much that he considered his employees his family and tried doing things as a unit outside of work. As he perfectly summarized in season 2, episode 6, “The Fight,” he wanted them to "be afraid of how much they love me”.
Colleagues like Jim and Dwight knew that Michael didn't have much without Dunder Mifflin and worried about him when he gave the company his two weeks. However, Michael always had something up his sleeve and bet on himself when no one else believed in him.
