“Looking back on it, I don’t think I would have been successful in high school without that mileage,” she told me. “Because I’m not injury prone, I could bear it, and it got me to the level that I needed to be to get recruited for colleges. I’ve always known that even if I didn’t have a lot of talent, if I worked hard, I could compete at a higher level.”
