The lapse in competition doesn’t mean there isn’t familiarity between the two programs, who will play in the second round of the women’s National Invitation Tournament on Monday at 6 p.m. at Texas Tech., a starter for the majority of the season, will be making a return to Lubbock for the first time since she transferred from Texas Tech. Embry was a four-star recruit out of Norman, Oklahoma. She signed with Texas Tech and spent one season there, averaging 4.5 points per game.

Embry decided to leave Texas Tech after her freshman season to be closer to her family and her uncle, John, who eventually passed away this past summer. “She’s been somebody we can count on to get a bucket when we need it or get a rebound when we need it,” SMU head coach Toyelle Wilson said. “She has no understanding of how valuable she is.”Texas Tech sophomore Rhyle McKinney,She played all six games at SMU before the Mustangs opted out of the rest of the 2021 season. She averaged eight points per game.
