A wild monkey responsible for a spate of attacks on the residents of a Japanese city is being sought by police.
Officials say the monkey has terrorized about 20 people in the Oguri area of the city Yamaguchi since July 8,Most targeted by the predatory primate suffered light injuries, including a 10-month-old girl whose leg was scratched by the monkey after it entered through a screen door of a home.
“I was vacuuming when I heard my child crying, so I turned around and saw the monkey had grabbed her by the legs while she was playing on the floor,” the child’s mother told local media outlets, according toIt’s most recent attacks included a 10-year-old boy who was bitten on the arm and hands at an elementary school on Tuesday and two women who were outside later in the day, CNN reported, citing Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
Police have not identified the species of monkey responsible for the attacks, but the area is inhabited by Japanese macaques, CNN reported. Local police are on high alert and have warned residents not to leave their windows open, The Guardian reported.Share this article in your social network
