An immunobiologist, she is part of a rapidly expanding effort to figure this out. She and her colleagues are already studying the immune response in more than 100 patients in the medical school hospital. She's encouraged that most people who recover from the coronavirus have developed antibodies that neutralize the coronavirus in a petri dish.Research like hers will answer that question, eventually.
That's because she and other immunologists are looking for patterns in the immune response that will identify people who have long-term immunity.
