The 1000th Formula 1 Grand Prix took place in Shangai in 2019. Since then, Formula 1 has not returned to China due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Chinese Grand Prix has been waiting for a return for three years. Is 2023 the year for its return?

In 2022, races could resume worldwide, such as in Canada or Japan.
The race in China, however, was also cancelled in 2022, as the country pursued a so-called “zero-covid” policy. There were also issues predicted for 2023. The quarantine regulations would not have been practicable considering Formula 1’s tight schedule.“it cannot ask teams to go to the country for the race in Shanghai with the risk that staff could be detained for days if they caught coronavirus.”
In early December of 2022, Formula 1 cancelled the race in China for 2023 because of the ongoing situation.Surprisingly, China announced at the end of 2022 that it would lift the zero-covid policy. As of 8 January, quarantine for entry to the country is no longer necessary.According to , the authorities in Shanghai and those responsible for the Chinese Grand Prix are already in contact with Formula 1.between the races in Melbourne and Baku. The Chinese Grand Prix should not be replaced.
