Police found 55 wraps of suspected crack cocaine when they searched Michelle Gedney, a court hears.
Police officers found 55 wraps of what they suspected to be the drug when they arrested Michelle Gedney in Northampton in July.PC Rory Callan from Northamptonshire Police said he hoped the sentence would act as a deterrent.
Northampton Crown Court heard that, shortly before 14:40 BST on 1 July, police officers saw Gedney taking part in a suspected drug deal in Tower Street, Northampton. She was taken to Campbell Square Police Station where the drug wraps were found, along with the cash and a mobile phone. She admitted the charge at Northampton Crown Court last month and was jailed for three years, as well as being ordered to pay a £228 surcharge. The judge ordered the drugs to be destroyed, and that the cash seized be sent to the Northamptonshire Community Fund, which provides financial support to charities.
PC Callan, from the force's Operation Revive team, said: “I hope the sentence handed to Michelle Gedney is a deterrent to anyone who is thinking of dealing drugs within our communities. “I also hope this sentence reassures members of the public that we will take positive action against issues affecting them and it encourages anyone who has concerns about drug dealing within their local communities to keep reporting suspicious activity to us."New homes proposed for former car dealership site
