BT says it is now assessing the new pole as Chris cannot easily get in and out of her own home
A woman returned home from work to find BT had installed a large new telegraph pole in front of her drive, and says she now finds it difficult to get cars in and out. BT installed the new larger pole to replace a smaller one outside Chris McNarney's driveway.
"My daughters have bigger cars and can't fit. I think it's going to devalue the house as well, because if I eventually sell, because I've lost my husband, it's going to put someone off." She said a supervisor who was in the area while fibre cables are being installed agreed the pole is not suitable for the area. Sjhe said: "I said to them it's not acceptable, because you're over other people's property."But she received a letter from BT which advised "we've found no legal reason to remove, replace or re-site the pole you've asked about". It stated the pole had been placed within a square metre of the old one.
A BT spokesperson said: "We’re aware of the impact our equipment can have and the balance between cost-effectiveness, aesthetics and safety can be difficult to achieve. We’ve visited the property to take photographs of the pole which have been sent to our poling team so they can reexamine the positioning of the pole.
