A new report has found that women living in the north of England have a lower life expectancy than those living in the south, with the UK's life expectancy branded a 'national disgrace'
A new study has revealed that women in the north of England have a shorter life expectancy by two years compared to their southern counterparts.
Specifically, women residing in the south-west and south-east have life expectancies of 83.9 and 83.8 years, with south-western women topping the longevity chart for females across the UK. In London, the figure stands at about 83.6 years. Titled 'Women of the North', the report underscores the fact that northern women suffer from higher instances of long-term and chronic illnesses and are more likely to experience poor mental health, reports the Express.
She further lamented the widening gap over the past decade between Northern women and their peers elsewhere in the country, in terms of both broader health determinants and health inequalities.
