There are record numbers of women of color up and down Congressional ballots for the November 2020 elections.

At least 41 Asian or Pacific Islander women are major-party congressional candidates—yet another historic high. are candidates for the U.S. House, a new record there. This is, however, the first year since 2008 that no API women are major-party candidates for the Senate. At the present, only eight API women serve in the 116th Congress with voting rights.

At least 16 Middle Eastern or North African women are major-party congressional candidates—once again, setting a record. filed, 11 are Democratic candidates and, five are Republican. All are candidates for the U.S. House. As the CAWP only began collecting data for this group in 2018, they do not have a comparison to previous cycles. Rashida Tlaib and Donna Shalala are the only women who self-identified with CAWP as Middle Eastern / North African in the 116th Congress.

At least 18 Native American women are major-party congressional candidates—yet another historic high.breaks down evenly across party lines with nine filed in each party. 15 of those women are running for House seats, a new record, and three are running for Senate seats, another record count. Right now, Sharice Davids and Debra Haaland are the only Native American women in Congress and become the first to do so in 2018.
