A woman killed in a "brutal and senseless murder" over the weekend is the seventh woman in Northern Ireland to be murdered in 2024.
The victim, who has been named as 40-year-old Karen Cummings, was pronounced dead a short time later. Karen was a mother-of-two who worked as a paediatric nurse at Daisy Hill Hospital.READ MORE: Arrests as murder investigation launched after death of woman in Banbridge On Monday morning, Women's Aid NI issued a statement, asking anyone with information that could help the PSNI, to reach out.
"Please know our thoughts are with you all at this incredibly distressing time and we cannot begin to imagine what you are going through at the moment, especially at this time of the year. Karen is the 25th woman to be killed in Northern Ireland since 2020, the vast majority of whom were murdered in their own homes.
