England's hopes of bringing football home were shattered on Saturday night as a 2-1 defeat to France saw the Three Lions crash out of the World Cup in Qatar.
The England team tweeted that they were"heartbroken", telling dejected fans:"We so desperately wanted this time to be our time, but it wasn't meant to be.
"Thank you for being there with us every step of the way. Your support back home and in Qatar has been incredible.", leaving Cristiano Ronaldo in tears - in the semi-final at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday.
