Mr Sunak added: “I also want to share with you my thoughts that what Hamas did, and I know you agree, was an appalling act of terrorism. Mr Sunak approached his 48-hour emergency tour of the Middle East, during which he met a total of six leaders, including four from Arab countries, with “patient, calm diplomacy”, insiders said.
Qatar’s government has been negotiating with Hamas to release civilians taken hostage from Israel by the terrorist group, including at least 12 British nationals. A No10 spokesperson added: “The leaders agreed on the need for all parties to take steps to protect civilians, and civilian infrastructure, and minimise the loss of innocent lives. They condemned Hamas’ terrorism and stressed that Hamas do not represent the Palestinian people.
