DJ LeMahieu continued his hot hitting Friday night with a three-hit, two-homer game in the Yankees 6-2 road win over the Rays.

It’s looking like the Yankees made the right call waiting for a resurgence from LeMahieu, who turned 35 on July 13. “I don’t think you necessarily have to be a 300 hitter to be a good coach or anything, but we have similar approaches to the game and hitting,” LeMahieu said of Casey. “A lot of stuff he says, it brings me back to other times in my career that I’ve come out of . So just talking the game with him has been a help.”
Facing Rays 13-game winner Zach Eflin on Friday night, LeMahieu led off the game with a lineout to right before grounding a single to center in the third and opening the scoring with a two-out, fifth-inning homer to left-center on a hanging slider. Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole appreciated LeMahieu providing offense Friday when he picked up his 11th win with a 7 2/3-inning, two-run start.
