Yankees outfield prospect made his big league debut on Tuesday
Pereira quickly got ready and headed to the stadium. His wife waited in the car when he went inside. Once inside the manager’s office, RailRiders manager Shelley Duncan and his coaches broke the news in a rather peculiar way.
Pereira did his best to keep his composure as he walked out of the stadium. Moments ago, he fell victim to a prank, and now he was prepared to do the same to his family. “I can say, from my part, it’s an unexplainable feeling,” Valeria Pereira told NJ Advance Media in Spanish. “I feel like screaming and crying with happiness.”
Upon hearing the news, his mother, Miriam Pereira, and father, José Gregorio Pereira, were overwhelmed with pride. They dropped to their knees and immediately started thanking God for their son’s accomplishments.
