In the case of 'The Nightingale' — which shows multiple rape scenes in the first half hour — there's a difference between historical accuracy and gratuitous violence against women.
Jennifer Kent, the woman who created the horror villain-turned-gay-icon Babadook, has returned to the director's chair with the upcoming film The Nightingale. Apparently, this film is just as intense as Babadook, but for completely different reasons. According to Australia's News.com, some attendees walked out of the movie at a Sydney Film Festival screening, complaining about having to see multiple, brutal rape scenes in just the first half hour of the film.
KKW Beauty's Skin Perfecting Foundation promises to"blur imperfections and provides a flawless finish for any look," which, like, is pretty much what most foundations promise to do, except it's meant for... your arms, collarbone, legs, I guess? In that case, I will admit, I am intrigued at the thought of blurring away a few bruises from my ghostly knees so maybe people don't know how much of a klutz I am.
Single items range from $27 to $45, with sets maxing out at $200. The full collection will be available to shop on June 21 at 3pm EST on KKWBeauty.com. Chloë Sevigny wore what was arguably our favorite look from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2019 runway—a black-and-white, off-the-shoulder, poof-sleeved, high-low gown. Also in attendance? Selena Gomez, who sported a $15,900 Celine black mini dress with oversized feathered sleeves.
Lil Xan is under investigation for assault with a deadly weapon. According to a report by TMZ, the 22-year-old rapper pulled a gun and pointed it toward an individual after they called out Xan's previous comments, in which he called Tupac"boring," in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven. The gun was never fired. The encounter was captured on video by the alleged victim, showing the two exchanging heated words and Xan pulling out the gun.
Since I was a young girl in Chicago, rap music has always been part of my life. There was never a moment growing up that I didn't feel it was a natural part of my culture and generation. I always begged my mother to buy issues of The Source and Vibe before the internet became the place to get the most intimate look at my favorite artists.
