Samaria Rice’s 12-year-old son Tamir Rice was killed by a Cleveland police officer in 2014. Tamir would have turned 18 In June. The Tamir Rice Afrocentric Cultural Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is part of Samaria Rice’s efforts to honor the memory of her son by advocating for police reform through more accountability and community engagement.Other Black mothers must also advocate for change to stop the killings, she said.
