s latest addition isn’t an animal. It’s a “Hollywood”-style sign that greets visitors and passersby.
The sign, located in the Brookside Reservation off John Nagy Boulevard and visible from I-71, went up this week. Designed and built in-house by the Cleveland Metroparks marketing and site construction teams, the sign features the zoo’s wordmark and logo with silhouettes of a gorilla, giraffe, hawk, elephant, turtle and big cat.
“A fun fact is the giraffe stands at nearly 25 feet tall,” parks spokesperson Jacqueline Gerling said in an email. “The elephant is so large it had to be transported in two pieces and welded together on site.” The new landmark provides an ideal photo opportunity before or after a visit to the zoo.
