It’s so important for all these voices to be included. If we don’t make sure everyone is safe around guns, we havent accomplished gun safety. A lot of people don’t like it, but the reality is we’re a lot more similar than different. People in the hood and people in more well-resourced communities are experiencing gun violence for very similar reasons. It’s our responsibility to continue to point that out, so politicians take care of everyone involved.
I also want to expand access to healthcare for shooting survivors.I think that having gone through [these news cycles] before gives me the wisdom and perspective on how to take care of myself and my brothers and sisters. Even when it comes down to scheduling a day, eating enough, sleeping enough, encouraging each other, asking. It’s very heavy work.
