The former student's health deteriorated so badly that she had to drop out of her psychology course at Dundee University and move back home to Edinburgh.
Catherine Ramsay, 23, first caught the virus in December 2021 and was soon plagued with extreme fatigue, breathlessness and chest pain. Six months later she caught Covid for a second time and said the severity of her symptoms spiralled out of control.
"My symptoms wouldn't go away and then I caught Covid for a second time in July 2022 which seemed to make it worse. Desperate for support, Catherine began to look for other sufferers and discovered Compass, a charity in Leith, which provided her with hyperbaric oxygen therapy - breathing pure oxygen through a mask in a pressurised chamber.She continued: "I just felt so stuck and I wasn't getting any better so I decided to give the oxygen therapy a go."I am not back to 100 per cent myself but I am definitely so much better than I was, my symptoms are nowhere near as bad.
