ANAHEIM — Zack Weiss was on a big league roster for the second time in his life, but it felt like the first. The right-hander made his major league debut on April 12, 2018, with the Cincinnati Reds. He faced four batters. He walked two, and allowed two homers.“It was tough for a while,” Weiss said of having that outing as his only appearance in the big leagues. “But I feel like that was like a different guy ago. I’ve made my peace with where we were at then.
After Weiss’ reached the big leagues straight from Double-A for his rough outing, he passed through the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners organizations. He pitched one game in independent ball before the Angels signed him last winter. Walsh said earlier this week he’d been bothered for years by this issue, which stemmed from his days as a pitcher. He said it had been particularly troublesome for the past six weeks.
