Jared du Toit, who posted a top\u002D10 finish as an amateur in the 2016 Canadian Open, is playing in the PGA Tour Canada\u0027s 2022 Elk Ridge Open.
Du Toit — who is playing in this week’s Elk Ridge Open in northern Saskatchewan — is a member of Golf Canada’s national men’s team, along with fellow Elk Ridge participants Joey Savoie, Chris Crisologo and Blair Bursey.
He and fellow Elk Ridge Open competitor Max Sear were successful in the Monday qualifier to join Canucks Adam Hadwin, Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Taylor, Corey Conners, Adam Svensson, Michael Gligic and Taylor Pendrith in California. Du Toit, a native of Kimberley, B.C., is based out of Phoenix. He started out at the University of Idaho before transferring to Arizona State University.“It’s just about stringing everything together for a week,” offered du Toit. “Golf’s that crazy game where you can drive it great one week and putt it bad and then vice versa the next round. For me, it’s kind of mentally getting it together the same week and then taking advantage and clutching up on the opportunity.
“I feel like, this year, travel expenses are kind of through the roof, with rental cars, flights, this and that,” admitted du Toit. “It seems really tough but the guys do a really good job in kind of helping each other out when in need. A lot of guys will fit three or four in a hotel, three or four in an Airbnb, stuff five guys in a rental car driving from Edmonton to Saskatchewan.Article contentDu Toit is hoping to build on his top-25 placing a week ago in Edmonton.
