Students received their A level results this morning
At 8am this morning students waited nervously at the doors of their sixth forms and colleges or kept their fingers crossed in front of their laptops, waiting to open the results they had all worked so hard for.
At Pendleton Sixth Form College, a day that begin with anxiety quickly turned to celebration and many students jumping for joy before being grabbed and held by overjoyed parents, relief clear on everyone's faces. "Don't give up. Perseverance is key. Celebrate the small wins along the way even when things may not turn out how you want on the day."
Natty Agbongiarhuoy moved to the UK from Italy four years ago to sit his GCSES before progressing onto Oldham Sixth Form College to study for his A levels. Natty, surrounded by his proud parents, earned a A*, A and two Bs and will go on to study Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University.Mariia Honiukova, a student at Connell College, came to Manchester from her home in Kyiv, Ukraine, following the Russian invasion.
Across the country, the percentage of A-level entries awarded top grades is up on last year and remains above pre-pandemic levels, national figures show. Councillor Julie Reid, Executive Member for Early Years, Children and Young People at Manchester Council, said: "Well done to all students in Manchester who have picked up their results today - you should be very proud of your achievements.
