Business Insider Intelligence
The e-tailer may be delaying Prime Day to shore up its fulfillment capabilities following the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Amazon had delivering orders in its standard one- and two-day windows early in the pandemic because it simultaneously faced a spike in demand and new operational challenges posed by the virus's spread.
But the delay could also backfire for Amazon as coronavirus cases rise and consumers' income declines. in several US states, and if that continues until Prime Day, it could complicate Amazon's operations and fulfillment process all over again.
