Around 150 people turned up at the Cairn Hotel in Bathgate at around 6pm to “defend refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants
An anti-racism group claims they “scared off” far right protesters during an event at a hotel housing asylum seekers in West Lothian this week.
However, locals mixed with activists and trade unionists arrived in numbers to take their place outside the hotel.Stand up to Racism Scotland said: “Bathgate defends refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. We won’t let our community be divided. A pathetic show of 5 Nazis scared off by around 150 anti-facist protesters.
Last weekend police officers were attacked and more than 400 people were arrested after shocking scenes saw shops looted and hotels housing asylum seekers targeted. In it, the First Minister told social media bosses: “It is clear to me that social media platforms have a duty to take action to ensure that individuals in our society are not subjected to hate and threatening behaviour, and that communities are protected from violent disorder.”
