The diamond ring was discovered stuffed inside the sock by the guest as she helped her mother clear out a drawer
An Antiques Roadshow guest was left stunned when she was told the value of a ring she had found stuffed inside a sock. The woman had not planned to get the ring valued but when she saw there was no queue for jewellery expert Joanna Hardy she decided to check it out.
The expert appeared horrified telling the guest: "It could have gone in the washing machine - even gone to charity maybe. Oh my goodness." Joanna commented: "It is absolutely superb." She told the guest the ring was made in platinum in about 1915 with an "air of sophistication".
