Police Scotland said relatives of the woman, 32, and schoolgirl have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
A woman and a six-year-old girl have died after a single-vehicle crash in East Ayrshire. Emergency crews were alerted to the incident on the A76 near its junction with the B713 - between Catrine and Auchinleck - at around 5pm on Tuesday. Police Scotland said the passenger in the white Volkswagen Passat, a six-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 32-year-old woman driving the car was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she died a short time later.
The force said relatives of the woman and schoolgirl have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers. The road was closed for around seven hours for investigation works.
