George Oakley grabbed the vital goal as teen sub Dylan Watret proved a star turn from the bench in Ayr's 3-2 win.
AYR bounced back to keep their 100 per cent start alive as Scott Brown 's side edged a five goal thriller at Somerset this afternoon.
Boss Brown had stuck with the side which thumped Airdrie last week while Hamilton made two changes with Scott Martin and Euan Henderson coming in. Accies tried to respond and Kevin O'Hara drew Harry Stone into a fine save at the other end. Ayr should have doubled their lead when Oakley teed up Henderson but he fired wide from 12 yards.
However, the it was delayed a matter of minutes as Accies hit the front when Jamie Barjonas fired home. Ayr badly needed half time and they came out looking revived.
