A woman has been jailed for punching and kicking another woman she trailed to the ground outside a Belfast city centre pub

Annie Elizabeth Mongan, 22, was given a three-month sentence for launching the attack as the victim socialised with friends at Robinsons Bar.Read more: 'Attack made me reconsider my career' says PSNI officer as assaults reach five year high She joined a group in an outside seated area at the bar located on Great Victoria Street, but was asked to leave the table because she wasn’t making any sense.“She then dragged the injured party to the ground and proceeded to kick and punch her,” the barrister said.When Mongan was identified and arrested at the scene she kicked a PSNI officer in the shins.
She pleaded guilty to common assault, disorderly behaviour on licensed premises and assault on police.Sentencing Mongan to three months’ custody, District Judge Amanda Henderson said: “It was a nasty assault.”For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here.
