The crash has occurred on the southbound carriageway between J17 M45 to J16 A45 . Lanes two, three and four are closed. All traffic was briefly held from around 10am, causing further delays. According to Google Maps, the incident occurred near Watford Gap and is causing congestion. National Highways said at 10am: "There is currently approx. 5 miles congestion on approach, causing delays of 30 minutes above usual journey times."It said in a later update that traffic had been released, but lanes two, three and four remained closed while emergency services continued to work at the scene.
