Four people were shot while standing on a sidewalk in Lawndale Tuesday, including two women who were seriously wounded, according to Chicago police. Hours earlier, four others were shot in Altgeld Gardens, including a 14-year-old boy.
Officers and paramedics were called to the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue around 8:40 p.m. for a report of a shooting. They located two men who had been shot and later learned two women, 43 and 30, also had been shot and self-transported to separate hospitals.The 43-year-old arrived at St. Anthony’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to her chest. The 30-year-old arrived at Mount Sinai Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her face.
The shooting was at least the second in Chicago Tuesday resulting in multiple victims. Four people were shot around 3:35 p.m. in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the Far South Side. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the arm and he was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he had been listed in good condition. A 24-year-old man was shot in the face and he was taken by paramedics to University of Chicago Medical Center, also in good condition.
