Community members gathered Sunday night to peacefully protest the mistrial of former Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Meade.
A group of at least 50 marched down Dennison Avenue on to High Street, protesting the mistrial and demanding justice for Casey Goodson Jr. on Feb. 18, 2024. Ramon Obey says they want prosecutors to refile the case so that the Goodson family can have some kind of justice. Obey is the executive director of an activist organization calledSunday, Obey says nearly 20 different organizations have signed a letter in support of a new trial.

This is obviously not the outcome we were hoping for. There are no winners in this matter. The Goodson family lost their loved one and their lives will never be the same. Deputy Meade was forced out of his career and his life has changed forever.
