Maine High School District 207 finalized its purchase of approximately three acres of land near Maine South High School in Park Ridge, known as Cline Farm, for $3.2 million. The land, which is accessible to Maine South through a District-owned pathway, is located at 711 South Hamlin Avenue, Park Ridge. The district plans to use the farm to teach environmental, sustainability and agriculture classes on the property.
Brett Clark, District 207′s director of communications, said Maine South has the largest student population of the district’s three high schools but the lowest amount of green space. In a district board meeting in mid-October, Director of Facilities David Ulm said an environmental study was done on the property to assess what the district could do with it. The study found asbestos in the windows and doors of the home.
