Chavez may look like a simple girl with a jean jacket, but she's a far more complex character than meets the eye. In her comic-book form, Chavez, who goes by the superhero name Miss America, was created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta in 2011. She hails from a parallel universe called Utopian Parallel, controlled by a magical known as the Demiurge.
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Chavez is portrayed by Xochitl Gomez, who most recently appeared in Netflix's The Babysitter's Club series. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Doctor Strange while recruiting Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch , to help fix the broken spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has seemingly cracked open the multiverse, causing a chasm between dimensions and realities.
It's unclear how America Chavez will be involved in Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Still, throughout the initial teaser, she does feature prominently, which suggests her role will be substantial. With Doctor Strange's spell being the catalyst for the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the floodgates of possibilities opening up in the MCU, Chavez's presence in the film makes sense, given her inter-dimensional origins.
