The outfielder, who started the season 7 for 20 with two home runs and two triples, impresses Dodgers manager Dave Roberts with his adjustments at the plate
PHOENIX — Rookie outfielder James Outman has two home runs and two triples already this season. But it’s a non-swing that gave Dodgers manager Dave Roberts an early sign that Outman was ready to handle the big leagues.
Outman has walked six times in the Dodgers’ first eight games. Roberts takes that as a positive sign from a rookie he described as “unflappable.” Vargas’ plate discipline has been a revelation. He went into Saturday’s games leading the majors with 11 walks.
