The UK Health and Security Agency (UKHSA) has said the July heat could pose a risk to people who are vulnerable
A heat alert warning has been issued as temperatures are expected to reach at least 28C in the East Midlands. The heat health alert will be in operation from 9am on Monday, July 29, to 11pm on Wednesday, July 31.
The UK Health and Security Agency has said the heat could pose a risk to people who are vulnerable and could have minor impacts across the health and social care sector.Yellow warnings, issued in tandem with the Met Office, specify that, while the heat is "unlikely to impact most people", those with multiple health conditions and taking medications may struggle to cope.
The warnings specify that action may be required "within the health and social care sector specifically" and that people should take extra care to avoid the worst of the heat. Yellow warnings are the second-lowest on a scale devised by the UKHSA, above green "summer preparedness" alerts, and one step below the second-highest "enhanced response" amber alert.
The Met Office says that temperatures will rise gradually over the weekend with 24C expected on Sunday before increasing to 26C - 28C across the East Midlands from Monday through to Wednesday, when temperatures will start to cool again but still remain between 23C and 25C. Temperatures could rise as high as 30C.
