The family of a former stage manager at Nottingham Theatre Royal has donated a unique collection of theatre memorabilia to the venue. The collection includes items such as posters, playbills, photographs, and personal mementoes from various shows.

A unique collection of items from posters and playbills to photographs and paperwork has been donated to Nottingham Theatre Royal and Concert Hall by the family of Brian Coates, a former stage manager who worked at the theatre from 1960 to 1984. After his death in August 2022, his family decided to donate a significant portion of his collection to the theatre.

Brian's daughter, Zoey Coates, emphasized that the collection includes personal mementoes and memorabilia from shows like 'My Fair Lady' and 'Fiddler on the Roof'. The items will be catalogued by the theatre's team of archive volunteers and eventually housed in the University of Nottingham’s Manuscripts and Special Collections Department
