A yellow weather warning is in place for wind later this week
Following a mild weekend, an area of low pressure is now expected to cause a wet and windy week ahead, with high winds forecast from Friday in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The yellow weather warning for wind, impacting Scotland and Northern Ireland, comes into force at 12:00 am on Friday morning, January 24, and remains in place until 12 pm on Saturday the following day. The warning reads: "A deep area of low pressure will bring very strong winds and some disruption." Due to the extreme weather, the Met Office has warned that the following could be expected:
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Chris Almond, said: “A very deep area of low pressure will bring a very unsettled, potentially disruptive, spell of weather to the UK through Friday and into Saturday.
