Ofcom have confirmed that the Good Morning Britain complaints relate to an episode of the ITV breakfast show which aired on August 5 featuring Ed Balls and Kate Garraway
Good Morning Britain has attracted further controversy with a fresh spate of complaints regarding the presenters' tough questioning of MP Zarah Sultana and the eyebrow-raising interview Ed Balls conducted with his own wife, Yvette Cooper, live on air.
MP Sultana argued during the intense segment that it is imperative for the government to categorise the recent spate of riots and violent disorder as "Islamophobic" in addition to acknowledging its racist undertones. Subsequent criticism was levelled at Ed Balls following the interview, with some audience members expressing their distaste, describing themselves as "disgusted" and "uncomfortable" with the exchange.
On the flip side, ITV has stood behind Ed Balls' interview with his wife, asserting it exemplified a "balanced, fair and duly impartial" approach. Others labelled the interview as "ridiculous", "insane" and a "stupid editorial decision". Some suggested that this was part of a larger issue and that Ed should step down from GMB.
