A residential road in Newton Mearns that was in a “very poor condition” has been resurfaced.
It comes after Jackson Carlaw MSP reported earlier this year that Lochbroom Drive needed to be repaired due to potholes.
Following this, East Renfrewshire Council’s Environment Service advised the MSP that the road was under consideration for inclusion in the annual carriageway resurfacing programme for 2023/24.Jackson Carlaw MSP said: “In the previous year, I was delighted to see resurfacing work completed at residential streets in Eastwood that were in a long-standing derisory condition including Brackenrig Crescent, Ailsa Drive and Beech Avenue.
“The need to repair badly damaged surfaces and restore the condition of roads that are in a state of disrepair remains a major priority for many of my constituents. “It was a concern to receive constituent correspondence highlighting that Lochbroom Drive was in a particularly bad state and required permanent repair work to bring the road back up to an acceptable standard.to relay that the Newton Mearns road would benefit from a programme of permanent repairs and to ask for resurfacing to be arranged at Lochbroom Drive.
“It is welcome that Lochbroom Drive made it on to the final list of roads to undergo carriageway resurfacing and with the work taking place in the early months of the current financial year.”
