Former Rangers midfielder John Fleck has returned to his old club in a bid to fine-tune his return to action.
The 32-year-old has been training at Auchenhowie with the Light Blues as he considers his future after an injury-hit season with Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship. A shin problem sidelined the playmaker during his time at Ewood Park after ending an eight-year spell with Sheffield United, where he was a key man in helping the Blades achieve three promotions, winning the Player of the Year award on two occasions during his time at Bramall Lane.
Fleck’s close affinity with Rangers includes a five-year stint at Ibrox as a teenager. And he became the youngest-ever player to feature in a senior British cup final by appearing as a substitute in the 2008 Scottish Cup showpiece against Queen of the South. That led to comparisons with Wayne Rooney and Fleck commanded a valuation of over £20million when he was linked with a move to Arsenal after a string of sensational displays for Sheffield which brought five Scotland caps.
