John Lewis' 2024 Christmas advert has been released in full and it tells the story of a sibling bond, leaving fans emotional as they watched the heartwarming scenes.
This year's John Lewis Christmas advert is all about the beautiful bond between two sisters. A stark contrast to 2023's star, Snapper Venus flytrap, the department store has decided to keep it simple and focus on the relationship between family. Leaving viewers emotional, the highly-anticipated advert - which follows on from the release of Lidl and M&S' adverts - is heartwarming yet simple.
When Sally snaps back to reality, she's found the gift and reunites with her sister outside the store. The ad is set to the tune of Richard Ashcroft's Ivor Novello Award-winning song "Sonnet", adding a nostalgic 90s tone. The original Sonnet plays in the ad, but there will be a unique cover version airing on Christmas Day, reports the Mirror. John Lewis is calling all budding musicians to showcase their talent by submitting covers of this year's Christmas advert song on TikTok from November 15. The lucky winner, selected by Richard Ashcroft and a panel of judges, will get to record their rendition of "Sonnet" to be featured in the Christmas Day advert.
For the first time ever in a John Lewis Christmas ad, the store itself is featured and plays a major role. Charlotte Lock, John Lewis' Customer Director, told The Mirror it wasn't easy to do, admitting: "Oh my goodness, it was such - well, hilarious in retrospect," she admits.
