Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers, July 16, 2022CLEVELAND, Ohio — Any question as to whether or not José Ramírez is ready for the All-Star home run derby was answered Saturday by his first two swings of the bat. Those same two swings also quickly put to rest the matter of a game against Detroit that the Guardians went on to win easily, 10-0 at Progressive Field.
Cleveland battered Pineda and the Tigers for eight runs in the first two innings and Cal Quantrill battled through six scoreless frames for his sixth win as the Guardians stopped the Tigers for the third consecutive game. His home run in the second got out of the park in a hurry. After RBI doubles by Myles Straw and Rosario, Ramírez smoked a two-run shot to right that left the bat at 107.2 mph. It gave Ramírez an American League-best 75 RBI and marked the 25th time in his career he’s posted at least four RBI in a single game, tying Al Rosen for eighth most in a Cleveland uniform.
