King Charles filmed his annual Christmas Day speech in a former hospital chapel, marking the first time in 14 years the broadcast was not recorded within the royal estate.

King Charles broke a major royal tradition this year by recording his Christmas Day speech from a former hospital chapel. The monarch, 76, recorded his message two weeks ahead of time at Fitzrovia Chapel in central London, a former hospital chapel now used as an event space. The decision to film the speech outside of the royal estate for the first time in 14 years is thought to be a nod to the King's cancer battle earlier this year and a desire to reach out to the wider community.

A behind-the-scenes video shared on Instagram showed the King adjusting his tie before the recording and standing front and centre in the magnificent venue
