The Lib Dem candidate for Hazel Grove has apologised for the comments but says she did not mean to make fun of Liverpudlians
Sir Ed Davey has defended one of his Lib Dem candidates in Greater Manchester who made a 'very bad joke' when she asked if a voter from Liverpool had been 'nicking stuff'. Lisa Smart, who is hoping to become an MP in Hazel Grove , has apologised for the comments.

The Lib Dem leader, who has become known for his PR stunts during the election campaign, says there was no 'deep message' behind this one.
He said: "It'll be up to voters to make their decisions about what they think. Hopefully they'll see our future plans - they're full costed. "But I did learn a lot from that. I learnt you shouldn't promise what you can't deliver. And so our manifesto is fully costed. "They're putting their local environment and things like sewage at the top of their concerns and because we've listened, I want to rebuild that trust. They are our priorities too."
