The stereotypical image of a British family has changed drastically over time. Now, Liverpool Council is focusing on supporting young people leaving care by connecting education, business, and young people to provide greater opportunities.
The stereotypical viewpoint on the standard British family used to be 2.4 children in the 1990s. In a two up, two down most likely. They even made a sitcom out of it. Over time, the national social picture has changed. Dynamics have changed. Currently, around 700 people across Liverpool are leaving care between the ages of 18 and 25. Yet, they face disadvantages in education and employment opportunities , simply based on their circumstances, which they did not choose.
“It took me a lot of courage to speak out alone about it. My experience has been positive and negative, it hasn’t just been one side, for a lot of young people it may be different. “Some don’t reach out to the support they’ve got because they don’t know it’s there. They’re not educated on the support they can access.
