Lord Eric Pickles is set to be criticised in a report into the Grenfell Tower tragedy, after he was scrutinised over delays to much-needed fire safety regulations.
The former communities secretary is expected to be the highest-level minister to be personally criticised over systemic failures that caused 72 people to lose their lives in a single night in 2017.
The fire - the worst residential blaze since the Blitz - triggered mass protests about building standards, following months of concerns from Grenfell Tower residents about the safety following its refurbishment. Lord Pickles, communities and local government secretary throughout the coalition government of 2010-15, was among the people sent draft sections, the Telegraph reported.
The same official wrote in a document that he didn't need to 'kiss the backside' of a coroner who suggested sprinkler systems should be installed in all tower blocks following a fatal fire at a block of flats in 2009.
